Gary Lee Schaefer, age 74, of Scott, AR, joined the Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was peacefully transitioned with all of his family surrounding him, watching home movies.
Gary was born on May 25, 1950, in Nokomis, Illinois. He was the son of Leland Schaefer and Josephine Podberegar Schaefer. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Christopher Hinesly.
Gary was an avid hunter, fisher, and an all-around sportsman. He loved the Razorbacks almost as much as his wife. The real joys of his life were his grandkids. He lived for all of his family to come over to have a pool day and calling the hogs. In recent months, he leaned on faith in the Lord and was proud of this journey he travelled with the Lord.
Gary is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rebecca "Becky" Schaefer of Scott, AR; his children, Brett Schaefer (Adrianne), Angel Osborne (Bobby), Alicia Smith (Glenn), and Courtnie Schaefer; his grandchildren, Cheyenne, Jaxson, Emma, Jhett, Kevin (KC), Preston, and Presley; his brother, Roger Schaefer (Christine); his nieces and nephews, Brooke, Aubree, and Austin; his God given son, Brandon Grice; and a handful of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
Pallbearers are Josh Mitchell, Brandon Grice, Bobby Osborne, Glenn Smith, Tommy Lambert, and Aaron Lambert.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
Interment will be held at Sweet Home Cemetery.
