Gary & I played a lot of golf together with our usual 4 some every Saturday. Also, in the church golf league at Castle Hills Golf Course in New Castle, Pa., and several trips to Myrtle Beach for days of 36-hole golfing. Gary was always a dedicated golfer who loved the game. He was always improving his skill. His putting was his biggest strength, as he was not long, but very straight, hitter in the beginning. He was rarely in trouble off the tee and was soon outdriving us as he grew longer off the tee over time. One year our 4 some teamed up to win the Ohio Scramble, in large part, because of Garys extraordinary putting skill. He drained several 25' putts that were center cut. Gary provided the team incentive to motivate us to a win, which we did against a large field of longer hitters. Someone has to be a great putter to do that ...and that was Gary.
Gary was also a numbers and figures man so everything on the scorecard was always 100% correct without even looking at it. I lost track of Gary when he moved to Jacksonville, Fl except to learn he was still heavily involved in playing a lot of golf in a much warmer Florida climate. I will always remember Gary as a solid guy, good golfer, and personal friend with many fond memories. Sadly, missed and condolences to the family.
