BOWLING GREEN -- Gary Schooner, 78, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away March 30, 2024. He was born August 22, 1945 in Bowling Green to the late Ervin and Helen (Piddock) Schooner. He married Margaret Sheeks on August 19, 1967 and she preceded him in death in 2020.
Gary worked as an inspector for American Lincoln later known as Clarke American for 40 years. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed both working on cars and attending car shows. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR racing. His greatest joy was his granddaughters.
He is survived by his daughter Tammie (Don) Ameling of Bowling Green, granddaughters Sarah Ameling and Sydney Ameling and siblings Lon (Pam) Schooner, Pat Harrison, Shelby (Bob) Myerholtz and Kathy (Tim) Sands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret and siblings Ted Schooner, Ron Schooner, Larry Schooner and Sharon Weaver.
The family would like to thank his personal caregiver, Amy and the Wood Haven staff for their dedicated care.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday April 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster St. Interment will follow at Plain Twp. Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered by the Wood County Honor Detail. Visitation will be held Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Wood County Humane Society.
