Gary Thompson Shelton, 83, entered into his heavenly home on August 7, 2022. He was born on August 28, 1938 in Pittsylvania County to the late Lorrena Shelton and the late William Henry Shelton. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Shelby Hammock Shelton.
He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, a charter member of Mt. Hermon Fire Department and was a member of Tuscarora Country Club. He worked for 34 years for Pet Dairy as a ice cream salesman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons; Barry Shelton (Debra) of Danville, VA., Billy G. Shelton of Danville, VA., sister; Jane Haskins of Dry Fork, VA., grandchildren; Matthew Shelton (Paige) Brandi Shelton, great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Shelton, Laci Shelton, Mattox Shelton and Bradyn Shelton whom he had a special relationship with.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00PM at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 2:00PM at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA., with Pastor Mike Hearp, Mr. H.F. Haymore and George Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Mt. Hermon Fire Department.
