Gary Slovick

Gary Joe Slovick, 67 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at his residence in Taylorville. He was born in Salem, IL, the son of Joe J Slovick and Connie J (Ward) Hoelscher. He married Carol Bergschneider on July 2, 2016, in Taylorville, IL. He retired from the Christian County Sheriff's office where he worked as a Sheriff's Deputy. He also worked as an officer for various other departments. Gary loved hunting, riding his motorcycle, John Deere, and going to the diner to grab a cup of coffee while socializing with friends, and loved spending time with his family.
Gary is survived by his Wife, Carol Slovick; Daughter, Valerie Lawhorn of Mattoon, IL; Sons, Wade Slovick of Taylorville, IL and Trevor Slovick of Carbondale, IL; Step Daughters, Malorie Bergschneider of Taylorville, IL and Brieanne (Breydon) Brown of Taylorville, IL; Step Son, Brad Bergschneider of Taylorville, IL and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra Krueger.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton
Memorial Home in Taylorville. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Sutton Memorial Home to assist the family with expenses.
