Gary Fielden Slusher, age 91 of Moneta passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022.
He was born in Roanoke, VA, a son of the late Roy F. and Edna Simmons Slusher.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice A. Slusher; second wife,
Nancy B. Slusher; and his sister Joyce May. Gary was an Army Veteran.
He retired after 39 years with Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. He was a member of the SML Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones award. He was a Master Gardner and was active in many community programs and was a friend of Bill for 36 years. Gary attended Trinity Ecumenical Church.
Gary is survived by his only son, Derek Slusher (Ann) and his grandchildren, Matthew Slusher (Katie) and Susan Krashevski (Johnny); great-grandchildren, Bryson and Bennett Slusher; brother, Mike Slusher (Penny); step-children,
Pam Poelker, Jean Atkins, and Steve Bonner and their children and grandchildren.
Margie McGuire was his love and companion. She was a positive part of his life for the past 20 years and his "Franklin County Flower."
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory can be made to
Trinity Ecumenical Church Memorial Fund, 40 Lakemont Drive, Moneta, VA 24121 or Medi Home and Hospice, 4419 Pheasant Ridge Road, Suite 201, Roanoke, VA 24014.
A celebration of his life will be held at Trinity Ecumenical Church, 2:00 PM, April 24, 2022. A reception will follow in the reception hall. Arrangements by Conner-Bowman Funeral Home and Crematory, 62 VA Market Place Drive,
