Mr. Gary Eugene Smallen

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Gary Eugene Smallen, age 77, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Friday April 18, 2025. Mr. Smallen was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee the son of the late Charles Smallen and the late Francis McAfee Smallen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Charlie Smallen, sister, Karen Miller, two brothers, Charles "Bub" Smallen and Kenneth Smallen and a nephew Josh Smallen.
Mr. Smallen was a retired mechanic who worked for Kohler Industries and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. A gifted artist and a man of quiet strength, he was known for his deep wisdom, gentle spirit, and the love he carried for those around him. He found joy in fixing cars, cheering on both Tennessee and Georgia football teams, and expressing himself through his art.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Smallen of Jefferson, GA. Two nieces, Erin Quarles (Corey) of Chattanooga, TN and Jana Robertson (P.J.) of Ringgold, GA. Three nephews, Michael Miller, Seth Smallen (Kari) and Chad Smallen (Kristi) all from Chattanooga, TN. Brother, Steve Smallen of TN. Loving companion, "Dixie Doodle". He also leaves behind a host of loving relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
In accordance with Mr. Smallen wishes, he will be cremated and the family will handle services at a later date.
