Gary Lee Sohl, age 83 of Wymore passed away on May 9, 2024. He was born in Odell on February 12, 1941 to William "Bill" and Marie (Scheele) Sohl. He was baptized into the Lutheran Church and attended Bethlehem Country School until the 2nd grade. Gary was a 1959 graduate of Odell High School. He began his lifelong career at StoreKraft Manufacturing, where he worked his way up to Account Specialist from 1959 until his retirement in 2002. He served his country as a dog handler in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 in Korea. On July 3, 1970, Gary married the love of his life, Janet Lytle, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter.

His hobbies ranged from being an avid golfer and baseball fan, to bowling, building with Legos, and frequenting casinos. He was renowned for his spectacular Christmas light displays and his dazzling fireworks on the 4th of July. He was a dedicated member of the Anderson Post #25 American Legion Wymore, where he served on the honor guard.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Janet of Wymore; his daughters, Lisa Sohl of Beatrice and Jennifer Sohl and special friend Eli Lloyd of Lincoln; his brother, Lawrence (Norma) Sohl of Beatrice; and his sister, Janice Wittwer of Falls City. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Norma (Jon) Fleege, Gyra Lytle, and Pat Sohl; and his brothers-in-law, Ron Lytle and Dick Roever. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marie Sohl; his siblings, Shirley (Loren) Wieden, Arlo (Betty) Sohl, Kenneth Sohl, Merlyn (Teresa) Sohl, and Patsy Roever; his parents-in-law, Ed (Martha) Lytle, sisters-in-law, Mary Lynn Sohl, Mae Marie (Kenneth) Schultze, Linda Lytle; and brothers-in-law, Dave Wittwer, and Eddie Dean Lytle.

In June of 2023, Gary was given only a few weeks to live and a celebration was held on the 4th of July - Gary's favorite holiday. Neighbors and friends gathered to celebrate Gary, and he considered that to be his funeral. So per his request, there will be no services at this time. A memorial has been established to the family's choice for future designation with the funeral home in charge.
