Gary Wayne Spangler, 65 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday,
September 28, 2025. He was born in Ellicott City, Maryland, on January 10,
1960, to the late Murry Jackson Spangler & Bessie B. Spangler. In addition
to his parents, he is preceded in death by his close uncle, Charles B.
Spangler, Jr.; and aunt Marie Spangler.Gary is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Julianne
Spangler; sisters, Janet S. Branch, Karen S. Black; brother &
sister-in-law, David J. & Lydean Spangler; many nieces & nephews; and
special cousins, Sara Dulaney, and Ralph Roland.
After graduating from the University of Maryland, Baltimore
County, he moved to Columbus, Ohio. In his spare time he enjoyed reading Sci-Fi
novels, listening to Classical music, and building model cars and trains. Gary
also enjoyed boating and spending time outdoors.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday,
October 2, 2025 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral
home.
