Gary Wayne Stover

GARY WAYNE STOVER, 70, of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2025 at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Gary graduated from Nitro High School in 1974. He had many years of dedicated service at FMC and retired from Lowes. He attended Highlawn Baptist Church in St. Albans. He loved his church and his family deeply. He had a gentle, kind soul and was loved by many. Gary was also a skilled photographer and enjoyed nature and flowers.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Dorothy Stover, his son Kevin Stover, and his nephew Timothy Harper.
Gary is survived by the love of his life, Esther Gibbs Stover. His years with her were his happiest because of the peace, joy, and love they shared. He is survived by his daughter Leah Stover Dodd. He is also survived by his sister Sheila Davis and husband Scott; sisters Sherrie Stover and Sonjia Currey; nephew Stephen Harper and wife Kayla; niece Sonjia Richardson and husband Steve; niece Lesa Dejong; two great nephews Cole Richardson and Brayden Dejong; and Esther's sons Ben Gibbs and Jay Gibbs.
A tribute to Gary's life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026 at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston with Pastor Jason Robbins officiating. Gary will be laid to rest in Cunningham Memorial Park following the service.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
Gary particularly loved and enjoyed flowers, so flowers are welcome.
