Gary Stubbs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Chapel - Anacortes on Oct. 4, 2025.
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Stubbs, age 78, in Anacortes, Washington, on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He was born on July 3, 1947, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Doyle O. Stubbs and Mildred Edith Cross.

Gary is survived by his wife, Jude; his sons Steven (Deanna) and Eric (Patricia) from his first marriage to Carol Vance; his grandchildren Shaunton (Madi), Tyrell, Ethan (Ellie), Katie, Sophie (Jakob), Amalia, Anari, and Zorin; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Mac, sister Donna Jo, and many other loving relatives and close friends.

Through Jude's role as a nanny to her brother's children-Matti, Gabbi, and Noah-Gary became a cherished part of their upbringing, offering love and guidance throughout their lives

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Mildred, and his older brothers Okie, Darius and Arlis.

Gary served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy, then continued his aviation career as a corporate and charter pilot, flying for the state government, and several private aviation firms until his retirement at age 72. Beyond the skies, he embraced adventure-climbing Mt. Hood, paragliding, boating, and riding motorcycles with joy and determination.

But nothing mattered more to Gary than his faith. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding joy and strength in serving his church and community. His love for the Savior Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life.

A public viewing will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7th, at the LDS meetinghouse, 3720 H Avenue, Anacortes, Washington, followed by a memorial celebration at 1:00 PM, which will also be available via Zoom (Meeting ID: 847 588 4762 Password: 1820). All who knew Gary are warmly invited to attend or join virtually.
