Gary Michael "Mike" Switzer, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 75 in Kettering, Ohio. Born on March 30, 1950, in Lexington, Kentucky, Mike lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and meaningful connections.
A gifted salesman with a remarkable talent for engaging conversation, Mike dedicated his professional life to organizations including Main Auto Parts, Tatone Lincoln Mercury, Kramer Lincoln Mercury, and ultimately retired from Weiler Welding Co. in 2017. His wit and charm allowed him to form lasting relationships with those around him, as he never met a stranger and made everyone feel like a friend.
Mike's education began at Patterson Co-Op, from which he graduated in 1968, and he later attended classes at Wright State University to further enhance his knowledge. His commitment to service extended beyond his career; he proudly served in the Army National Guard, where he showcased his sharp shooting skills and dedication to his country.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike was passionate about music. He loved playing the guitar and bass guitar, using his talents to enrich worship experiences at Wesleyan Evangelistic Church in Belmont. It was at this church that he shared his gifts and found a sense of community.
Mike cherished the time he spent with his beloved wife of 38 years, Northa Switzer. Together, they created memorable experiences, including vacationing in the Smoky Mountains and visiting the Martin Guitar Museum in Bethlehem, PA. He also drew great joy from his familial connections, being a devoted brother to Ronald (Cheri) Switzer, a loving uncle to Carey (Keith) Boroczk and Ryan (Christine) Switzer, and a proud great uncle to Brady and Ava. He held a special place in his heart for his Aunt Mary Burge and cousin Johnny (Sue) Burge, who were invaluable companions throughout his life.
Mike's passing is preceded by the loss of his parents, Charles and Joan Switzer. They instilled in him values of kindness and compassion, traits that he embodied throughout his life. His legacy will endure through the countless memories shared with family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Mike's life during a visitation on December 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery, where he will continue to watch over those he cherished.
Mike will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His family and friends remember him not just for his accomplishments but for the joy and kindness he brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Mike's memory to Wesleyan Evangelistic Church and Samaritan's Purse.
