Gary Szanto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vistoso Funeral Home on Feb. 23, 2024.
Gary Szanto was born in Waco, Texas, to Ralph McIntosh and Barbara (Weaver) Szanto. He was an invincible man to all who knew him and the epitomy of strength and perseverance, with a work ethic like no other. A master craftsman, Gary could build anything. He was a custom home builder who spared no detail, but his greatest creations were his daughters and the love and legacy he leaves behind.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Zena (Zoppo) Szanto; daughters Amey Szanto and Stacey Ruiz; step-daughters Heather Munro and Tara Franklin; step-son Danny Swanson; grandsons Andrew Ruiz and Dawson Szanto; sisters Judy Luetjens and Denise Blasingame; nieces Lisa Ballard, Missy Doty, and Ashley Kelly; nephews Mark Collier and Adrian Blasingame; and several great nieces and nephews. While his passing has left an enormous hole in our hearts, we will mend it with the wonderful memories he left us.
Gary died of Stage IIIb cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) and suffered with a severe case of parosmia that greatly affected his quality of life. His family would like to take this time to encourage everyone to be proactive in your healthcare – seek help and continue to do so until someone listens.
Gary is now with Christ, Our Savior, in heaven. No doubt he is tending to the garden or taking care of the animals (or probably doing both) and adding his incredible singing voice to the choir of angels.
