Gary L. Tenney, 69, of Conway, SC, formerly of West Stockbridge, MA passed away on July 6, 2025 at Grand Strand Medical Center. He had moved to South Carolina in 2017 to soak up the sunshine and be close to the ocean with his fiancé of 23 years, Janet Daigle Kane.
Born on December 16, 1955 in Pittsfield, MA he was the youngest son born to Verna L. (Kennedy) Tenney and the late Charles E. Tenney. Gary graduated from Monument Mountain Regional High School in 1974 which is where he met his high school sweetheart Jeanette Luchi. The couple married on May 10, 1975 and were together for 28 years. They were a force that would build and renovate five houses that they took great pride in creating for their two children.
He was a long-time employee of William's Paving and was respected as one of the best equipment operators in Berkshire County. He took great pride in all of his projects.
He loved spending time with his family. Much of that time was spent with his brother and sisters-in-law, Diane, Dominick, Sandy, Beth and Michael. Gary enjoyed doing anything outdoors from camping, fishing, swimming, his motorcycles, snowmobiles, and fast cars.
Gary also had a great sense of humor. He was always cracking jokes making everyone laugh and his kind heart always made everyone around him feel comfortable.
He leaves behind his favorite two creations, his daughter Jennifer Tenney and his son Brian Tenney, and all of his beautiful grandchildren that he adored, Kayla, Alex Madison, Jordan, Sophia and Aryana. He is also survived by his fiancé Janet Daigle Kane, his mother, Verna Tenney, sister Karen Tenney Williams, his brother Wayne Tenney and his father's fiancé Helen McCormick.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles E. Tenney.
A private service will be held at a later date.
