Gary Howard Weed

Gary Howard Weed, 80, of Lyme, Connecticut passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Harbor Village Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in New London. Gary was the beloved husband of Carol (Hyde) Weed.
He was born on June 25, 1943 in Deer Isle, Maine the son of Malcolm Grant Weed and Muriel Hannah (Snowman) Weed. Gary was a graduate of Old Lyme High School in 1963. He was a letter carrier in Essex for the United States Postal Service for 30 years retiring in 1998.
Gary was a former Chief of the Lyme Fire Company and served the community as a member of the Department for over 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, hiking and boating. Gary and Carol enjoyed crewing for Hot Air Balloonist's at many events for many years from North Carolina along the Eastern Seaboard and throughout the Adirondack's, Connecticut and Vermont.
Besides his wife Carol he leaves his special niece Kristy Wilson of Hampstead, North Carolina, his nephew, Victor Marshall of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, brother in law, Strickland Hyde of Essex, Connecticut, niece, Gwendolyn (Hyde) Dojan of Goose Creek, South Carolina and his nephew Jason Hyde of Westbrook, Connecticut. Gary was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne and Royce Marshall.
Funeral services will be privately held by his family. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Friends of the Lymes' Senior Center, 26 Town Woods Road, Old Lyme, CT 06371.
