Funeral services for Gary Weisz, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Davis Funeral Home. Graveside military rites will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Shoshoni, Wyoming. A viewing will take place one hour prior to services. He passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Gary Thomas Weisz was born on July 24, 1946, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Hugo Thomas Weisz and Mable Helen Hayes Weisz. He passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026. He grew up with strong family roots and values that guided him throughout his life.

Gary graduated from Gillette High School in 1964, where he played football. His love for the sport never faded, and he remained a devoted football fan throughout his life, cheering faithfully for the Chicago Bears and the Denver Broncos.

Shortly after high school, Gary answered the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1972, including service in the Vietnam War. For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart and remained a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He also belonged to the Mobile Riverine Force Association, maintaining connections to his fellow service members.

Gary continued his education and earned an Associate's Degree as a machinist. His career took him to Denver, Colorado, where he worked at Redfield Scopes from 1973 to 1993. From 1993 to 2000, he worked at TVR Machine Shop in Dayton, Ohio. In 2000, Gary returned to Shoshoni, Wyoming, where he worked alongside his father and stepmother at Trail Town Supply until it was sold in 2005, after which he retired.

On August 9, 2003, Gary married Wanda Bairn at Grace Lutheran Church in Lewellen, Nebraska. Together they shared a life rooted in faith, family, and community. Gary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Riverton, Wyoming, and was an active member of the Shoshoni, WY Chamber of Commerce for nearly 20 years.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Hugo Thomas Weisz; his mother, Mable Hayes Eatherton; his stepfather, Bud Eatherton; his stepmother, Hellen Calvert; and his brothers, Milton, Donald, Elliott, and Dwight Weisz.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Weisz; his nephews Skye (Skye Marie) Coleman-Weisz and their daughters, Kirra and Aspyn Coleman-Weisz; and Forrest (Shay) Coleman-Weisz and their son, Ayden Coleman-Weisz. A niece Stacey (Dale) Wamhoff.
Gary will be remembered for his dedication to his country, and community, and his enduring love for football. His legacy of service will live on in all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers contributions to Tough Enough to Wear Pink may be made through Davis Funeral Home.
