Gary Westell Williams age 78 of Alexandria, passed away Saturday evening, January 17, 2026, at home. He was born September 10, 1947 in Lebanon at McFarland Hospital, to his parents the late Nelson and Mable Jane Willoughby Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Brant and a brother, Odell Williams. Gary lived in the same house for 78 years on the farm where they farmed, milked, raised tobacco and corn. He worked for TVA for 30 years and was a member of Local Union 386. He loved Vanderbilt basketball, Alabama and Georgia football and the Atlanta Braves. Gary was of the Baptist faith. On September 15, 1995 he married Margie Atnip and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Margie Williams of Alexandria; three sons, Doyne Glass of Smithville, Doyle Glass of Alexandria and Michael (Dee) Adkins of Alexandria; two daughters, Brenda (Harold) Jones of Missouri and Martha (Jimmy) Brant of Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Bobby (Jill) Jones, Kristina (Chris) Munzy, Jimmy (Grace) Brant, Laura (Jason) Burton, Destiny Adkins, Candie Brant, Hailey (Dillion) Williams, Alysah (Lee) Daniel, Emily (Blake) Moore, Rainey Tiner, Justice Tiner, ShaeLee Foster, Isabella Glass and Tara Brittion; twenty great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Hayden and Knox Williams, Bowden, Paisley and Kobe Daniels, Blakely, Ellie, Milli and Presley Moore, Sage, Britteny, Harley, Donovan and Blaze Adkins, Rylan and Stryker Munzy, Rico and Malachi Brant and Patrick Brant, daughter-in-law, Margie Glass and several cousins, family and friends also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Don Rigsby and Hailey Williams officiating and burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday 11 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Williams family.
