Gatha Pickens Bridges, 79, of Statham, passed away on November 10, 2025.
Born in Cannon, GA, she was the daughter of the late Melton Alvin Pickens and Willie Owens. In her free time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading novels by her favorite authors Danielle Steel and Nicholas Sparks; but nothing was more important than spending time with her beautiful family.
Gatha was a very active member in her church, Danielsville Baptist, and was proud to be involved. She also dedicated her career to Madison County schools as a bus driver for special needs children until her retirement. She loved those children as if they were her own.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-three years Hubert Bridges; daughters Deborah McCannon, Donna Bolmon, and Christy (Matt) Taylor; sons Michael Bridges and Kevin (Dodie) Bridges, brother, Buddy Lee Pickens or Iva South Carolina; sister Katrina Saylors of Hartwell Georgia; Nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Gatha is preceded in death by her son Hubert Timothy Bridges; sisters Geneva Floyd, and Barbara Wood; brother Melton Pickens; and son-in-law Randall Bolmon.
Memorial services for Mrs. Bridges will be held Friday November 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Danielsville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior, until service time.
