Edward Arnold Forsman

1939 - 2023

Anacortes - Edward Arnold Forsman, of Anacortes, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the age of 83.

He was born on December 13, 1939, to Arnold and Cecelia Forsman in Multnomah County, Oregon. He was the 2nd of 4 children. He was raised in the Portland area with the family ending up in Tigard, Oregon, on a 20-acre farm. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1957. He attended Electronics school at Multnomah Junior College, then began working for the FAA in Airways Facilities, retiring after 38 years. He was also a member of the National Guard, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1959.

One of Ed's highlights was helping his grandfather build the family home in Tigard. During his life, he enjoyed many interests, including his Lionel trains, woodworking, boating, fishing, hunting, and ATVing. He learned how to smoke salmon, which was always a family favorite.

Ed was a marshmallow when it came to his dogs, Hannah and Sadie. He enjoyed going to The Store every day for his coffee and pastry. It was always the start of a good day with Frank and the staff.

He helped remodel the Parish Hall at Christ Episcopal Church and built the Red Door Donation Shed, which is named in his honor.

Ed is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley. His children: Lisa White (Mike), Arnie Forsman (Jenni), Kris Croonquist (Mark), and Laura Boerner (Vaughan). His grandchildren Brianna Longo (Matt) and their family, Alex White, Julia White, Katie Croonquist, Jake Croonquist, Luke Forsman, and Owen Forsman.

We wish to thank Ruby Rodarte, his caretaker from Heartsong. She enhanced the quality of his life in his last months, helping him to put together puzzles, taking him to Starbucks for his Mocha Frappuccinos and to parks so he could watch the various marine vessels coming and going. We would also like to express our appreciation to Hospice of the NW for their support during his last months. Memorial donations may be made in Ed's name to the Hospice of NW Foundation in Mount Vernon.
