Geert (Gary) Runhaar, a resident of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born in the Netherlands in 1938, Gary emigrated to the United States in 1964 and settled in the Chicago area, where he met Nancy Young in 1966. The two married in 1969 and went on to raise four sons. In 2013, Gary and Nancy moved to Texas to enjoy their retirement years.

Gary grew up working in his father's printing business and went on to study printing in the Netherlands. He built a lifelong career in the domestic and international sales of specialty printing films.

A devoted follower of Jesus, Gary was deeply involved in church life, serving faithfully as both an elder and teacher.

Curious and full of energy, Gary had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He was an avid runner for most of his life, running a marathon at age 67 and continuing to log about 20 miles per week into his 80s. He loved to travel for both work and pleasure, accumulating millions of miles by air and road while exploring much of Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania.

Gary was a passionate reader of newspapers, magazines, and books, and a handyman who enjoyed home improvement and remodeling projects. In retirement, he took great joy in helping his sons with their homes and landscaping. He also wrote a memoir of his childhood, including growing up under German occupation during World War II.

Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy, and their sons Pete (Amy Cupery), Chris (Juliet Manizovichi), Dan (Kim McKay), and Josh; grandchildren Sam (Sarah Aspec), Zac, Alysa, Ava, Fiona, Brandon, Garrett, Luella, Maeve, Bailey Haycock (Sam), and Erin; and great-granddaughter Abigail Haycock. He is also survived by his ten younger brothers and sisters in Europe, and innumerable nieces and nephews
