I met Gene through the Vermont Auto Enthusiasts auto club. He and Lucille planned our first meet of the year in Waterbury at the church hall. It took a lot of pressure off of the new activities' director. He elevated the judging at the Vermont car show to a level that made things simple for us judges, "as it came off the show room floor" was the standard. He also told us that if we turned in our score sheets with 100 points, he would send us back out to the field as there was one thing wrong with the car, "find it". I was shocked to learn of his death but wanted folks to know that his presence will always be felt when the second full weekend occurs in Vermont at the car show.

Dear Lucille,
Eric and I send very heartfelt condolences. We both knew and loved Gene and spent many wonderful times with him at Country Club of Vermont. Playing golf, conversing and of course enjoying the memorable Italian Nights that you both hosted. He shall be remembered with love.

Many years of friendship through our common interest of restoring vintage automobiles - especially Mercurys. His dedication and perseverance produced a technical book that will honor him for years within the restoration community across the country. I'll miss his weekly phone calls and our endless discussions about hobby things. A very dear and rewarding friendship that developed over a period of 20 years. We will miss you Gene.

What a loss to family, friends and the Dental Community. Gene lit up a room with his great smile and wit. For the short time I knew him, he touched me deeply. I miss Gene already !!!

Deepest condolences on the passing of Gene. He was quite a guy! I remember meeting him at the clubs open house when we were looking for members! He was so enthusiastic and joined immediately! Hope to see you over the summer to offer my sympathy in person!

Gene and I shared time together as members of the Early Ford V-8 Club and as Directors on the Board. You could count on Gene to volunteer to work on something. Although he would tell you that he 'fell' into working on the 1949-1951 Mercury Book, he really did volunteer to keep the project going. I will always remember his phone calls when I was President of the EFV-8C. He always wanted to let you know that he had just finished the next chapter of the book, The book will be one more acknowledgement to a person who cared about everyone. The attached picture is from October 2021 at the EFV-8C booth in Hershey PA during the Fall National Meet of the Antique Car Club of America. Thanks for sharing and working with me and the EFV-8C Gene.

I met Gene thru the AACA car club years ago. He also bought my 1953 Studebaker many years ago. He was a stand- up guy, always a smile and great attitude. Last I saw Gene was the Warren car show before Covid hit, he put his arms around me and told me when he decided to sell the Studebaker I was first in line, it was my first show car I bought around 1974. I never did hear back, I am sure the car went to a good home, as I am sure Gene is in a better place! RIP my freind!

Gene was a loyal, bright, funny wonderful guy and a great friend to all who had the pleasure to know him...and I did. He would be there for you in a pinch and everyone loved him. I informed his BHS classmates of his death and received numerous statements of sadness and great respect for him. God Bless Gene. His time on Earth won't be forgotten.

Since I first met Dr. Gene he has been a mentor and inspiration. Most of all, he was a dear friend, at times saying I was like a brother to him. When I was down, his spirit and enthusiasm lifted me. Nothing could ever replace what Gene has meant to me, my family, my staff, and my patients. I will always remember him and the love and times we shared. Our sympathy and condolences to Lucille, his children and grandchildren.

I had the honor to work with Gene over the past 10+ years on a dream of his to publish an authoritative book on the 49-51 Mercury car. During this time, I came to know Gene and Lucille and their kindness and generosity. They were especially kind and supportive of my wife, Mary and me during Mary's year long illness. I am truly saddened by Gene's passing. I will always remember Gene. I am a better person for having been his friend.
