Gene Newsom Obituary

Born in Muses Mills, Ky. on April 5, 1936, Gene was the son of the late Andy Newsom and the late Alma Adams Newsom.
Gene was a faithful member of the Muses Mills Christian Church. He was a deacon in the church, a position he held with great honor. Gene was a lifelong farmer and an avid hunter.
Gene is survived by his only son, Steve (Lisa) Newsom of Muses Mills; his three grandchildren, Amber (David) DeAtley of Muses Mills, Allison (Jon) Sutherland of Georgetown, and Tyler (Samantha) Newsom of Muses Mills; his four great grandchildren, Dylan DeAtley, Abigail DeAtley, Arlo Sutherland, and Annaleise Sutherland. He is also survived by three of his siblings, Bill (Brenda) Newsom, Sam (Jenny) Newsom, and Phyllis (Jerry) Boling; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Gulley; his two sisters-in-law, Velma Newsom and Margie Littleton; along with many extended family members and friends.
In addition to the love of his life and wife of 67 years Peach, who passed in 2022; his parents Andy and Alma; Gene was preceded in death by six of his siblings, Tom Newsom, Ed Newsom, Phillip Newsom, Golda Cooper, Eulene Young, and Imogene Gulley.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Muses Mills Christian Church with Pastor Doug Reeves and Pastor Jerry Boling officiating.
Gene will be laid to rest in Muses Mill Cemetery beside his wife Peach.
Pallbearers include Steve Newsom, Tyler Newsom, David DeAtley, Dylan DeAtley, Jon Sutherland, Rick Newsom, Dwayne Newsom, and Kevin Boling. Honorary Pallbearers include Bill Newsom, Sam Newsom, Randy Perry, and all the men of the Muses Mills Christian Church.
Visitation will be 12 noon until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the church located at 3735 Muses Mill Road, Wallingford, Ky.
