Obituary of Gene Logan Sanders
Our dear Gene Sanders passed away on February 5, 2023 at his family home surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born March 10, 1939 in Denver to Ingwald Sanders and Pauline Warden Sanders.
Gene is survived by his wife Priscilla Atencio-Sanders of 49 years, and his doting great-grandson Elijah Joseph Valdez; three children including Teresa (Nathan) C de Baca, Patricia (Gerald) Martinez, Joseph (Denise) Valdez; five grandchildren including Gabriel Valdez, Terra Ramirez, Chris (Angel) Ramirez, Christine Valdez, and Myranda (Jorge) Lopez-Valdez; one brother Jim Sanders in Arizona, one niece Jolea (Mike) Quintana in Arizona, two nephews Jim (Carrie Selinsky) Sanders in Ohio, Jesse (Lisa) Sanders in Loveland, and four cousins Jim (Linda) Warden in Denver, Julia (Steve) Blanchard, Dee Dee (Eugene) Scott, and Charlie Johnson in Nevada; twelve great-grandchildren and many friends.
Gene had served time in the Army beginning in 1957, and worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation for 32 years before retiring in 1994. He enjoyed the mountains, bowling, and spending time with family. Cremation was chosen per Gene's request. Gene's Celebration of Life will be held at Mile Hi Veterans (1717 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO) on February 24, 2023 at 4:00 pm. The family requests that attendees bring a quarter with them, which will be explained at the celebration. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date.
