Geneva Ferrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moore's Chapel Funeral Home on Jan. 27, 2026.
Geneva Kay Bullington Ferrell-known to everyone simply as Kay-passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, with her beloved greyhound, Friday, faithfully at her side. Kay was born in Prairie Grove, Arkansas and was raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where her roots ran deep and her personality shone bright.

Kay was a joy to be around. She had an infectious laugh, a quick wit, and a way of filling a room with warmth and humor. She earned a degree in education from the University of Arkansas and began her career teaching. In the 1970s, her adventurous spirit took her to Boulder, Colorado, where she continued teaching before heading west to San Diego, California in the early 1980s. There, she worked for RC Cola and embraced life with the same enthusiasm she brought to everything she did.

Eventually, Kay returned home to Arkansas, where she worked in the family auto parts business. Her love of history and beautiful old things led her to open an antique boutique in the 1990s, a venture that perfectly reflected her eye for character, charm, and stories from the past. Kay was also a talented artist, especially fond of capturing animals-another reflection of her deep love for them.

In 1986, Kay reconnected with her old flame, Robert Louis "Bobby" Ferrell, and married the love of her life. Together they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, humor, and friendship. Weekly card games with family and friends were a cherished tradition, and their home was always full of stories, teasing, and joy. Kay and Bobby also shared a profound love for animal rescue, especially greyhounds, adopting many who might otherwise have been lost after their racing careers. Friday, Kay's last greyhound, and her parrot, Fester, remained devoted to her until the very end.

Kay was also a devoted NASCAR fan and rarely missed a race. And if there was one thing everyone knew about Kay, it was her love of the color orange. Orange permeated her world-from her beloved Fiesta Ware to kitchen and household treasures collected over many years. She delighted in the hunt for just the right shade, favoring antiques and items with history. Old things spoke to Kay, and she cherished them deeply.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Ferrell; her parents, Huey and Zelma Bullington; and her brother, Ed Bullington.

She is lovingly remembered by her Bullington family: cousin David Bullington; nieces Catherine Bullington and Patty Bullington (Jim Levinson); and nephew Win Bullington; and by her Ferrell family: sisters-in-laws Ann Ferrell Wilson (David), Virginia Ferrell Russell, Rachael Ferrell McGrew (Larry), and Carol "Dubie" Duerr (Delmar); and brothers-in-laws Bill Ferrell and Richard Ferrell.

Kay is also remembered with love by her many dear friends and extended family whose lives she brightened and to whom she brought many laughs.

Kay's humor, kindness, love of animals, and unmistakable splash of orange will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Memorial graveside service will be 2:30 PM Friday April 17, 2026 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
