Geneva Mae Shafer, born September 15, 1947, to the late Joseph and Lily Pearl McGinnis, passed away December 16, 2023. Geneva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, providing family history and genealogy service. She took that passion for family history to the Williamson County Public Library where she worked as a genealogist in the reference department. She loved reading and storytelling, opening up worlds from Narnia to Tatooine; She endowed this gift onto her six children and many grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and birdwatcher who found solace and delight in nature. Armed with her faith, the knowledge that she will greet her family on the other side, and the many stories woven into her soul we know “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”- CS Lewis. She is survived by her siblings, Reba and Tim, her children Philip (Tracie) Shafer, Sam (Mary Jane) Shafer, Jay Shafer, Becky Davis, Jennifer, Mandy (Jake) Sauer and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be at the Fairview Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Funeral services will be at the Fairview Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Bill Grayson officiating. Interment will follow in Hudgins Cemetery.
