Genevieve “Honey” Baker Glawson, 86, of Holts Summit passed away at her home on Thursday, August 17, 2023, surrounded by her family.

The love she had for her family and friends could be felt by all who knew her.  Honey had a special gift in caring for others.  Especially for the many children that were in her care over the years as a Day Care Provider with her daughter, Peggy.  Whether it was going on vacation, camping trips or enjoying “Cousin Luncheons”, Honey treasured making memories with her family.

She was born September 13, 1936, in Folk to the late Henry and Gesina (Toebben) Kempker.  On October 23, 1957, Honey married Robert Baker in Folk.  Together they raised five children while Honey managed the Infant department at Wal Mart. On May 25, 1985, Robert passed away at the age of 51.  On May 13, 1989, she married William “Ed” Glawson in Westphalia.  Ed preceded her in death on February 4, 2023.

Honey took great pride in making her house a home.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting and baking homemade bread.  She had a passion for dancing, listening to Country music and taking in the shows at Branson.

Survivors include five children, Stephen (Carolyn) Baker of Russellville, Becky (Cliff) Swanson of Holts Summit, Ronald (Tess) Baker of Russellville, Peggy (Jeff) Thoenen of Willard, Donna Nelson of St. Louis. Nine grandchildren; Michael Nelson, Michelle Lynch, Melissa Phillips, Michelle Baker, Staci Cornejo, Stephanie Bratton, Ryan Thoenen, Aaron Thoenen, Brent Thoenen with sixteen great grandchildren; Owen and Liam Lynch, Addison, Bryce and Makenzie Phillips, Quinten, Alyssa and David Ortbals; Irie Jacob and Marlie Cornejo; Owen and baby Bratton; Nadaleigh, Jaelyn and Ava Thoenen;  and two brothers, Bernard Kempker of Westphalia and Joseph “Joey” (Cecilia) Kempker of Frankenstein.

Honey was further preceded in death by nine brothers; Sylvester, Melvin, Harry, Lawrence, Herbert, Edward, Raymond, Clarence and Wilfred and two sisters; Vernita and Angie.

Visitation will be Monday, August 21, 2023, beginning with a 4:00 p.m. prayer service until 8:00 p.m. at Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Dr., Jefferson City.  Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Holts Summit.  The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Roberto Ike and Rev. David Viet officiating.  Burial will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens with a luncheon to follow burial at St. Andrews Catholic Church.
