Genevieve Karnes-Mohr Obituary

Published by Cook Funeral & Cremation Services - Grandville Chapel on Apr. 17, 2012.
KARNES-MOHR, GENEVIEVE RUTH (JENNIE) - Jennie (85) triumphantly entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday April 17, 2012. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years LeRoy W. Karnes, her brothers Julius and Edwin Thompson, her sisters Ethel Eaton and Gladys Robinson. She is survived by her children, Danny (Ruth Ann) Karnes of Grand Rapids, Gary (Sharon) Karnes of Howard City, Jeffrey (Sarah) Karnes of Wyoming and Nancy (Ron) DeWeerd of Wayland, 12 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren as well as her brother Harold (Marge) Thompson, her sisters Hazel Koppen, Annette McClaughlin, Doris McKinney and Joyce Maring. Jennie and Lee also had four foster children that they loved and welcomed into their home as their own. Jennie was a devoted wife and mother who loved to cook, bake and care for her house and home. She also loved to travel with her husband and family and to work in her flower garden. A born again believer, she spent much time in God's word and in prayer every day. Her bright smile and cheerful disposition will be missed by all of those who knew her or came in contact with her. The family wishes to thank the staff of Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods for their love and care during her stay there. Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building) 4235 Prairie St. SW Grandville, with Dr. Rick Koole officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home (West Building). The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookfuneralservices.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.
