George Carliss Adams, 91, of Anniston, formerly of Portage, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family.

Private services to celebrate George's life will be held at a later date.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Adams and Regin a Young Adams; and his brother, Gary Richard Adams.

Those left to cherish the memory of George include his wife of 63 years, Kay Adams; his three daughters, Peggy Weaver (Steve), Nancy Adams, and Sally Adams; two grandchildren, Glenn Weaver (Marci) and Rachael Shannon (Colton); four great-grandchildren, Max Shannon, Meryl Shannon, Murphy Shannon, and Weston Weaver; and one brother, Jeffrey Adams.

George was a veteran of the US Army and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years. He loved his Lord and Savior and was a servant to others. George retired from US Steel where he worked for 46 years. He was a dedicated husband, a wonderful father, and an amazing grandfather and great-grandfather. George was a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family. In his spare time, George enjoyed playing sports, especially church softball where he was an outstanding pitcher. He also loved to watch the Chicago Cubs and had a passion for fishing and bowling. To know George was to love him. He will forever be remembered for the amazing man everyone knew him to be.
