Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory Edgewater on Jan. 9, 2026.
George Fox Allebach "Pop", 93, a resident of Annapolis, MD, died on Wednesday, January 7 at his home. Born on March 10, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA to the late George and Marion Allebach, George graduated from Hyattsville High School and attended the University of Maryland. He served in the US Army for two years and enjoyed a lengthy career as a civil engineer with Ben Dyer Associates. George was a member of the United Methodist Church. He embraced life fully and found great joy on the bay, fishing, boating, and sailing. He also loved singing in the neighborhood chorus and sharing lunches with fellow veterans in the Lost Patrol group. Some of George's happiest moments were spent at happy hours and during special dinners and celebrations with his friends and family. Most of all, George was a loving and loyal husband, father and grandfather who always made time for his family and held them close at heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Kay Sawyer. George is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diana D. Allebach; his children, Craig D. Allebach of Ellicott City, MD and Cheryl A. Petruskie of Fredericksburg, VA; his stepdaughters, Valerie Jones of Poland, ME and Cindy Shruell of Westminster, MD; his siblings, Raymond E. Allebach of Jessup, GA and Jane A. Seibert of Silver Spring, MD; his grandchildren, Andrew and Alysa Allebach, Lauren Petruskie Baird, Garrett Petruskie, Steven and Cameron Jones, and Madelaine and Julia Shruell and four great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate George's life on Thursday, January 22 at a visitation from 10 am to 11 am and his funeral service immediately following at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD.
