George R. "Rocky" BRIDGERS Sr.

I just heard of Rocky's passing. Rocky and I started working togeather in 1964 he was my first Lt. at Engine Six.We shared at lot of learning experiences, He was always relaxed which made some situations much easier especially with a new Firefighter. He will be surely missed by his family and friends. My deepest condolences.

Rocky was a great father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend. For many of us in the fire service he was the best Captain you could work for. I will always cherish the memories of working at Station 7.


God Has Called Me Home

Don’t weep for me my family
my friends and all I love,

For God has called me to come home
to his mansion up above.

Remember me with loving hearts
and a smile upon your face,

For now I dwell in heaven
surrounded by God’s grace.

It was so hard to say good bye
to step out of life’s race,

But I know that where I’m going
is by far a better place.

We live our lives the best we can
we lose and sometimes win,

But how we are remembered
is what matters in the end.

Please know how much I loved you all
and that I really cared,

And I’ll keep a lookout for you
when we meet again up there.

I had the pleasure of working with Rocky several summers in Myrtle Beach. He was an amazing man with a huge heart. I always thought the world of Rocky and I will never forget him. God Bless his family.

Jackie and George and family. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Rocky was a neat guy with a fun personality. I enjoyed the times we played together and enjoyed both your mom and dad. Having recently lost my father just a few weeks ago I know the pain you are going though. You are in my prayers.

He was very instrumental in my being promoted to Lieutenant. He was one of he most knowledgable and easy going officers that I ever worked for.
