George N. Briggs Jr.

George N. Briggs Jr., 96, of Baldwin, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, with his family by his side. He was son of the late George Sr. and Mildred Briggs; beloved husband of nearly 68 years to the late Louise J. Briggs; father of George (the late Jan) N. Briggs III, Gerald (ex Sandy) Briggs, and Gary (partner Jackie) Briggs; father-in-law of the late Sandy Briggs; grandfather of Corey (Jen) Briggs, Justin (Hayley) Briggs, Brad (Morgan) Briggs, Curtis Briggs, Kimberly (Scott) McIntosh, Traci Briggs and Brian (Heather) Briggs; great-grandfather of Emily Briggs, Macie Briggs, Theo Briggs, and Kayleigh Briggs, and Hannah, Rebecca and Sarah McIntosh; and eagerly awaiting the arrival of great-granddaughter, Isla; brother of Grace Lawther; predeceased by sisters, Sarah and Stella; brother, William; and also, survived by many nieces and nephews. George served in the Navy during WWII. He was employed for 33 years by General Motors Fisher Body Plant, West Mifflin. He was an active member of Baldwin United Presbyterian Church since 1965. He also volunteered at Jefferson Hospital for many years after his retirement. Due to current events, services will be held privately for the immediate family, followed by interment in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
