We sadly announce the passing of George Meritt Cawthra on May 15, 2025, at his home in Lampasas at the age of 72. George was born in Seymour, MO, to Robert and Ruth Emily Cawthra.
George faithfully served his country in the US Army, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. During Desert Storm, George served the US Army as a tanker and was stationed many places, including Germany. George was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved to pester and pick on his granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jo Cawthra, and his brother, Wiley Cawthra.
George is survived by his sons, Patrick Cawthra and wife Jonette Banks, and Anthony Cawthra; a brother; two sisters; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Cawthra, Kendley Jo Cawthra, Noah Randall, Kristofer Randall and great-grandson, Kaylex.
