Aiken, SC-Funeral Services for Mr. George Junior Childs will be held 2:00pm Thursday, April 10, 2025. at the Pine Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Casey Duncan is Pastor, the Rev. Jerome Coleman will officiate and the Rev. Stacy Mills will be the Eulogist. Viewing will be 11:00am -6:00pm.
Mr. George Childs, Jr., better known as Sonny, life began August 31, 1944, in Saluda County, South Carolina. A son to the late George, Sr. and Mary Ann Martin Childs. He departed this life on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Aiken, South Carolina.
George grew up in South Carolina, however later in life he would move to North Carolina. In October 2018 he would return to South Carolina to be with family.
George was a man of many trades that made him a very talent man. While in North Carolina he worked construction for many years. In his spare time, he loved gardening.
George was a faithful member of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age. He was a member of the Young Men of Honor Society.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three siblings. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories one sister; Tilda Ann Verdell of Philadelphia, PA; three brothers: Wallace (Delorise) Childs and Jerome Childs of Aiken, SC, and James (Julia) Childs of Ward, SC; one-brother-in-law, Elijah Burton, Jr of Johnston, SC; a very special caregiver Ms. Marshall Hightower of Passion with a Purpose ; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
