George passed away on February 1st after a battle with heart and lung issues resulting from his military service in the Vietnam War.  George was surrounded by loved ones as he passed into Eternal Life in heaven.
George was born to Bessie Evelyn Kriger and John Joseph Corbett on November 14, 1944 in Galveston, Texas.  He attended school in Rockport/Fulton and was very active in the high school band and the debate club.  After graduating from high school, George joined the US Navy (1963-1967) and served in the Vietnam War.  George joined the Masonic Lodge in 1965 and achieved his 32nd degree.  He attended Texas A& I from 1967 to 1971 and got a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.
George met the love of his life, Mary Kathryn Gray, when he was just 14 years old.  While they did not hit it off right away, a few years later, they decided they did in fact like each other and they have been together ever since.  George and Mary Kathryn married on August 5, 1967.  Last August, they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.  They traveled the world together for his career and loved to learn about many different cultures.
George worked in the Oil & Gas industry for several large companies, including Brown & Root, Chicago Bridge & Iron, and Fluor Daniel.  He was Director of Procurement focusing on steel.  He was lucky enough to work in several countries around the world, including Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing and spending lots of time making memories with family.  He treasured time with his extended family.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents who raised him (George and Bessie Kriger), his sister Deborah, and brother Stanley.  He is survived by his loving wife, his daughter Karyn Cass (Rusty) of Sealy, his son Kevin Corbett or Pearland, his granddaughter Kaitlyn Corbett, his grandson Maxwell Manifold, his Goddaughters Adrienne Gray of Dallas, Texas and Lauren Gray of Corpus Christi, Texas, many special nieces and a very special nephew.  He also loved his relationship with Mickey Gray and Gary Gray, his brothers in law.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6th from 5-7pm at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas.  Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church Rockport on Wednesday, February 7th at 10am followed by burial at Fulton Cemetery.
