George Leon Davis Jr.

Mr. George Leon Davis Jr. was born on January 26,1960 to George Leon Davis Sr. and Barbara Beason Davis at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He entered into rest on Monday, January 17, 2022
George Jr. was educated at St. Mary's Catholic School, Wenonah Elementary, A.G. Gaston Jr. High, and graduated from Wenonah High School class of 1978 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a football, basketball, and band member.
George Jr. confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bryant Chapel A.M.E. Birmingham, Alabama. He returned to Nashville, joined Greater Bethel A.M.E. He later changed his membership to St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church. At St. Luke, George Jr. served in the choir, usher board, pastoral assistant, culinary aide, and custodian for the church. He was employed by Millbrook Bakery, Birmingham, Alabama. Grissom Salads, Baptist Hospital and Vanderbilt Medical Center Environmental and Linen.
George Jr. had a good heart and was loved by everyone who knew him. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends detailing cars, and his personal attire (won best dressed class of 1978). His smile, laugh and kind spirit will be greatly missed.
George Jr. was preceded in death by his granddaughter Geona D. Davis, grandparents Mr. & Mrs. James E. Davis Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Robert L. Beason Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. Dock Burks III.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories son George L. Davis III. (Taquita), mother Bernadine P. Davis Cheatem, parents Mr. & Mrs. George L. Davis Sr., grandchildren Gemond L. Davis and Tameria D. Davis, devoted partner Beverly J. Wade (Jeanell Wade), sister Lisa D. Davis, nieces Aleshia L. Beene (Jerome) and Cerrita N. Taylor, and a host of other family and friends.
