George Dells Sr.

George M. Dells Sr., known affectionately as George to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, at the age of 88. Born on June 1, 1935, George's life was one marked by a deep appreciation for the golden era of Hollywood, a love for family, and an ever-present sweet tooth that could never resist the allure of chocolate.
George was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Virginia Dells, who shared his passion for life and love for the silver screen. Together, they built a family that included their children Victoria (the late Michael) Emery, George Jr. (Helen), Karen (the late Craig) Morrissey, and the late Glenn (Tracie) Dells. George's legacy continued to grow with his adored grandchildren Lisa, David (Stacey), Glenn, Brittany, Josiah (Casey), Justin, Melissa, Megan, Madison, and Matthew, and was further enriched by the joy of his great-grandchildren Cameron, Tyler, Charlotte, Dorothy, Evelyn, and Adley.
A man of simple pleasures, George found joy in the flickering lights of old movie theatres and the timeless performances of actors from the 30s to the 50s. He could often be found recounting scenes from his favorite John Wayne movies or humming tunes that echoed the bygone days of Hollywood. His encyclopedic knowledge of old-time actors and actresses was not just a hobby, but a passion that he loved to share with anyone willing to listen.
George's love for sweets was legendary among his family and friends. Whether it was chocolate, chocolate cake, or ice cream, he believed that a day without a touch of sugar was incomplete.
George's presence in the lives of his family was a constant source of joy and stability. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a cherished great-grandfather. His guidance, wisdom, and humor touched the lives of everyone he met, and his absence will be deeply felt.
As we bid farewell to George M. Dells Sr., we celebrate a life well-lived and well-loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the stories that will be told of his love for family, cinema, and the simple joys of life. George's journey through life was as rich and vibrant as the movies he adored, and his final curtain call is met with both sorrow for our loss and gratitude for the time we spent with him.
In honor of George's remarkable life, family and friends will honor and celebrate his life on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 3PM-5PM + 7PM-9PM. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, beginning at 12PM. All visitations and services will be held at the family-owned Evans Life Celebration Home- 8800 Harford Rd. Parkville, MD 21234. George's legacy is not just in the family he leaves behind, but in the countless moments of happiness and laughter he brought into their lives. Rest in peace, George; your story will be told for generations to come.
