George Ervin Obituary
He was born on March 22, 1950, in Brook, the son of Bruce and Martha (Coatney) Ervin. George graduated from South Newton High School with the Class of 1968. On May 10, 1986, he married Cynthia Ann Lane in Rensselaer.
George worked as a machinist and engineer at the former Per Pak, now known as MSI, Inc., for an impressive 48 years. He was also the co-owner and operator of Ervin Rentals. George enjoyed riding motorcycles, caring for antique cars, and trading classic vehicles. His love for engines and craftsmanship was evident in everything he did.
George is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Ervin; his children, Angela (Joe) McBride, Lafayette, Stacie (Jim) Phillips, Carmel, Mandy (Craig) Justice, Rensselaer, and James Schnelle Jr., Rensselaer; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Gerald (Edith) Ervin, South Bend, Karen McAffee, Frostproof, Fla., Norma Jean Nichols, Oklahoma, and Sally (Brad) Boozer, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Ervin; and a sister, Frances Logan.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Dec.11 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. CT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A funeral service will follow at 1p.m. CT with Pastor Jarred Mathis officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Foundation.
