George Fresch (1928-2024)
George Fresch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and musician, peacefully passed away in his sleep on December 12, 2024, at the age of 96. Born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio, George was the youngest of four children. His parents, Italian immigrants instilled in him a strong work ethic and a love for family.
George had a zest for life and a mischievous spirit who loved to tell a good joke. He also reveled in telling family and friends stories of the childhood pranks he and his brothers pulled off-adventures that left everyone laughing and shaking their heads. His playful nature stayed with him throughout his life, endearing him to all who knew him.
Music was George's true passion. Learning "by ear", he played the bass, piano, and clarinet with skill and enthusiasm. Whether performing in local bands or playing at family gatherings, his music brought joy to those around him.
One of the family's cherished memories of George was waking up on Saturday mornings. As the sun peeked through the curtains, he'd sit at the baby grand piano, singing tunes that echoed up the staircase. His fingers joyfully gliding across the keys, and music filling the house, letting everyone know it was time to rise and shine.
George's journey was marked by both joy and sorrow. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria (Schmitz), and their son, John. Their memories forever lingering in his heart.
He is survived by his two devoted daughters, Georgia Salinski (Sean Landes) and Mary Shelley (Shawn). His beloved grandchildren-Kirk Salinski (Lauren), Krista Salinski, Timothy "TJ" Higgins, and three great grandchildren.
In the quiet moments, when a familiar tune fills the air, we'll remember our father and grandfather, George Fresch-the storyteller, the musician, the man who lived life with gusto. May his memory be a symphony of love and laughter.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your melody will live on in our hearts.
