George S. Gillespie, 72, was born June 9, 1953, and passed away on January 4, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Messer (Zeno); his stepfather, Joe Messer; and his biological father, George Scovelle Gillespie.
George will be deeply missed by his aunts Jeannie (Fred) King and Jo Cooney, and a small circle of close friends.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of the funeral home. In accordance with his wishes, no public services will be held. He will be laid to rest alongside his mother at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
George often shared this quote by Erin Matlock:
“There are people you meet who become impossible to forget. They were not sent to you by accident, but instead, destined to open a doorway to a different version of your life.”
Thank you for being a part of our world, George. You are loved and missed beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers, a tree may be planted in George’s memory, or donations may be made to a dog rescue or animal charity of your choice, in honor of George’s unconditional love of dogs.
