George H. Hargreaves

George H. Hargreaves of Worcester, MA, Formerly of Methuen, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on February 11, 2026 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehab Facility in Northborough, MA.

George was a member of the National Guard of Massachusetts from 1951 to 1952, was the President of the Methuen Band Parents Music Association and a Trustee for several years of the Methuen Senior Center.

George worked in and operated Hargreaves Garage in Methuen on Lowell St for a total of 41 yrs before his retirement. Following his retirement, he spent much of his time volunteering at the Methuen Senior Center and was recognized for that by both State and Local officials, before moving to the Willows of Worcester.

Nothing made George happier than spending time with his family first, then traveling, cruising, woodworking and camping for 32 yrs and later in life doing word search and multi-piece puzzles with his wife Pauline. He also enjoyed his daily walks around The Willows and all the activities.

George is survived by his wife of 72 yrs, Pauline (Quance) Hargreaves of Worcester, Daughters Sue Ecklund of Buffalo, Wy, Nancy Hargreaves-Pierce and her husband Everett of Sterling, MA, his son, Howard Hargreaves and his wife Donna of Winchendon, MA, his Grandson Brad and his wife Brittany of Gardner, MA and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Harry D. and Marion (Wheeler) Hargreaves, his sister Alma (Fielding) Healey, and his brothers Arthur and Bill Hargreaves.

The family would like to thank the skilled and thoughtful staff at U Mass Memorial, Belmont St., Worcester, and the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehab Facility in Northborough, MA for their care of George these past 6 weeks.

Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Tuesday February 17, 2026 from 10am to 11am at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home 80 Broadway Methuen. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to the Methuen Senior Center, 77 Lowell Street, Methuen, MA, 01844 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
