Cozine Life Events CenterGeorge Scott Herman, a respected leader in home-based healthcare and a beloved family man, passed away on February 27, 2026, in McKinney, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 15, 1965, in Wichita, Kansas, Scott's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to both his profession and his family.
Scott devoted more than three decades to advancing the patient experience in the realm of home-based care. His career began in 1984 as a paramedic and first responder, and he later took on numerous roles including Flight Nurse/Paramedic, Emergency Room Nurse, ICU Nurse, and Home Health and Hospice clinician. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kansas Newman University and obtained Emergency Medical Intensive Care Technician certification from the University of Kansas.
Scott’s commitment to innovation led him to found New Day Healthcare during the global pandemic, setting a bold vision that redefined the delivery of healthcare at home. As a devoted father and grandfather, Scott took great pride in actively participating in the lives of his children and grandchildren. His presence at their baseball and softball games, cheering passionately from the sidelines, were some of his happiest moments. Scott shared invaluable time with his children, George S. Herman Jr., Shelby F. Sanders, and Ashley L. Wallace, engaging in joyful activities at their family getaway, Table Rock, and establishing traditions like outdoor movie nights and bonfires.
Scott was deeply rooted in his faith, exemplifying the values of kindness, generosity, and leadership based on Christ's love. His character shone brightly, lighting up rooms with his laughter, jokes, and engaging stories. He was known for his big heart and his ability to make everyone feel valued.
