George Monroe Hetrick Jr.

George Monroe Hetrick, 86, passed away on December 18, 2025. He was born on November 1, 1939, in Orrville, Ohio, to George and Dorothy Hetrick.
George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was married for 61 years to the love of his life, Clydette Wells Hetrick, with whom he built a life rooted in family, loyalty, and quiet dedication.
George's greatest joy was his children and grandson. He is survived by his daughter, Claudia Wade and her husband Jared Wade, and his beloved grandson, Carter Wade of Lewis Center, Ohio; and by his son, Michael Hetrick of Los Angeles, California. Being a father and grandfather brought him immense pride and happiness, and his love for his family was steadfast and unwavering.
He is also survived by his brother, Carl Hetrick of Carpinteria, California and son Jeff Hetrick.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Hastings, husband Ken and their daughters, Lori Ebert and Lisa Smith.
George was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, Class of 1962, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He devoted over 40 years to his profession as a mechanical engineer, working on a wide range of public works projects that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to community infrastructure. He retired in 2005 from Hazama, closing a long and respected career.
A lifelong Buckeye, George was a passionate Ohio State football fan and held season tickets for many years. He loved "Carmen Ohio" and cheering on the Buckeyes with his daughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in George's memory to Kobacker House Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
No funeral service will be held. A celebration of life honoring George will be held at a later date.
George will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his integrity, his quiet humor, and his lifelong loyalty to the people and traditions he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and faithfulness that will continue through the generations of his family.
