George Joseph Hoffman

George Joseph Hoffman 60, of Massaponax in Spotsylvania County died at his home on Monday, January 26, 2009 after a 17 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Mr. Hoffman was the son of the late B. P. and Jennie Verberg Hoffman and grew up in Claymont, Delaware. He was an Eagle Scout at the age of 13. George was a drummer in the "Baker Street Irregulars" in high school and continued to play until no longer able. A graduate of the University of Delaware, he received his degree in landscape and ornamental design. Mr. Hoffman was the founder and owner of Pine Hollow Nurseries in Massaponax. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Kimberley B. Hoffman; his mother-in-law, Lolete Barlow of North Beach, Md.; brother-in-law, Bryan Barlow and wife, Julie, of Maynard, MA; sister-in-law, Windsor Easley and husband, Michael of Carbondale, CO; niece, Jenn Wozny of MA; nephew, Chris Wozny and wife, Lisa, of MA; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, January 30 at Christ Episcopal Church at Spotsylvania Courthouse with Rev. Jeffrey A. Packard and Rev. John Verberg officiating. Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
