Our thoughts and prayers are with George´s entire family at this difficult time. We know you will be surrounded by family and friends, who will provide comfort.
My first memory of George was meeting him at his first location on Piedmont, prior to its opening. He was placing hickory wood in a pit. I asked him about his grocery needs and he answered,
" Go see Snookie". Our relationship remained strong, since that time.
For many years, we flew back and forth to The Masters. Following my retirement, I enjoyed visiting with George, when we caught up on "old times" at Hickory House. It was always a pleasure to see his face.
Attached find the photo taken at my last visit with George. I will miss him a great deal.
Sincerely,
The Doe Cohen Family

I had the privilege of serving on the board of deacons with George at Morningside back in 1966-68. Every time I walked into the Hickory House, he would say, "There is my old Morningside Buddy"! He was a fine man and will surely be missed. My sympathy to Diane, Donna, David, and Dan.

Dear Diane, Donna, David and Dan, I an SO sorry to hear this news. Your Father was one of the most gracious men I have ever known and you were truly blessed to have him as your husband & father. We spent many wonderful times over the past few years laughing about how crazy the BBQ business is and sharing funny stories together. Please accept my warmest condolences and know that George has left us with a wonderful gift ... our memories of being together. I will be in touch soon. Always your friend, Turk McKinnon

My mother, Dora Sutherland worked for George a long time. I would work for him in the summer and when I came home from college and high school. He was always a great boss and a wonderful friend. I talked to him not long ago and I´m so thankful that I did, he will always hold a special place in our families heart because he was so good to us. He always told me he loved my mother. I might add he always meant the world to her too and to her kids. Thank you George for the friendship Throughout the years, you will be missed my friend.

A note to Diane! What a precious friend was George to Ted. Call me should you like to share some stories of those "wild and crazy guys!" Ted has been in heaven now ten years.
