George Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Crawfordville on Mar. 20, 2026.
George O. Jackson, 95, of Carrabelle, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026.

A longtime resident of Franklin County, George moved to the area in 1963, where he opened Standard Oil Service Station. In 1974, he founded Jackson Auto Parts, and the following year expanded his vision by opening Ace Hardware and combining the two businesses. His hard work and dedication made him a cornerstone of the local community for decades.

George was a devoted member of the 1st Baptist Church of Carrabelle and served his community in many capacities. He held positions as a city board member, Franklin County commissioner, and director of Gulf State Bank. He was also part of a governor's advisory board and played a vital role on the Senior Citizens Council. Known for his strong sense of civic duty, George will be remembered for his unwavering generosity and his willingness to help anyone in need. An avid outdoorsman, George found great joy in hunting, fishing and had a deep love for gardening. One of his greatest pleasures was cooking for his friends. George was known for never meeting a stranger and he considered his friends as family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia V. Jackson; his son, David Jackson; granddaughter, Natalie Littlefield; and great-grandson, Jackson Meyer.

George will lovingly be remembered by his children Ronnie Jackson (Reba), Phyllis Cook, and Yvonne Howell (Winston); his special nephew, Mark Bruffet; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and his devoted four-legged furry companion "Hope".

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Carrabelle. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 25, 2026, 11:00 am First Baptist Church of Carrabelle and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Young Family Funeral Home at Harvey Young Chapel, assisted by Skip & Trey Young. 850-926-5919; Familyfhc.com
