George Kenneth Johnson, 74, of Pilot Grove, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center.
He was born September 21, 1951, in Georgetown, son of Earl and Jane (Gayhart) Johnson.
On April 28, 1978, he married Shirley Margaret Kraus, who preceded him in death on September 26, 2016.
George worked for Dunn’s Welding in Sedalia for 37 years. He was a skilled welder, heavy equipment operator, and was known as a jack-of-all-trades guy.
He was always willing to help anyone out. He loved to fish and hunt. You could catch him sitting on the porch drinking a beer or riding through the country. He loved to go to the casino to gamble, enjoyed taking vacations with family, and enjoyed watching car races in California. He will be remembered for being an awesome dad and grandpa.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, Randy Johnson (Lashauna), of Tipton, and Gregory Johnson (Jessica), of Boonville; grandchildren, Alonza, George, Elizabeth, Gavin, Dalton, Addison, and Ava; two great-grandchildren, River and Denver; and a sister, Juanita Baker, of Sedalia.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Hunter Johnson; and three brothers, Jim, Johnny, Roger Lee; and a sister, Jackie.
Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by a visitation until 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at the church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.
