George Johnson

1935 - 2025

George Warren Johnson Jr., 90, of Orangeburg, S.C., peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Sunday December 28, 2025. Funeral services were held at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home Chapel December 31, 2025. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery on Broughton St., Orangeburg.

George was born in Modoc, S.C. to the late George Warren Johnson, Sr. and Emily Talbert Johnson. He was a graduate of Norway High School and served in the National Guard. He worked for US Plywood as a Scheduling Manager until his retirement. George enjoyed playing golf and softball and was a member Cornerstone Church.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Shirley Williams Johnson; three sons, Eddie Johnson of Orangeburg, Teddy W. Johnson and his wife, Lisa of Orangeburg and Chris Johnson and his wife, Wendy of Orangeburg; one sister, Mary Emily Thielbar of New Mexico; one brother, Rufus Johnson and his wife, Marilyn of Summerville; ten grandchildren, Fallon Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Naomi Johnson, and Collin Johnson all of Orangeburg, Maegan Johnson Pena of Cameron, Caitlin Johnson of Anderson, Rachel Johnson of North Charleston, Crystal Jones (Kayla) of Orangeburg, Justin Jones (Elizabeth) of Campobello, Matthew Jones of Myrtle Beach; and seven great-grandchildren, Garret Robinson of Orangeburg, Wyatt Robinson, Jaiden Johnson, both of North Charleston, Bentley Robinson of Cameron, Rhett Beck of Anderson, and Camden Jones and Mason Jones of Campobello.
