George Kellam Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vaughn Greene Funeral Services - Randallstown on Nov. 27, 2023.
George received his education in Accomack County Public Schools in Virginia. George moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1966. He worked various warehouse jobs and retired from Sysco Food Distributors. George met his loving, devoted wife of 56 years in 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland. From this union they had seven children. His wife was his caregiver. She tirelessly and selflessly took exceptional care of him the entire 56 years that they were together. He enjoyed her cooking and would make frequent requests for his favorite dishes.
George gave his life to the Lord and was baptized under the leadership of the late Bishop Conway Green at the Christian Community Church of God. He continued his service to God under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Melvin C. Green.
His hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles and word search. He also enjoyed listening to gospel, jazz and blues music and talk radio. He regularly talked to his family and friends on the telephone. He spoke to his siblings in Baltimore and Virginia almost every day. He was infamous for calling family and friends for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He watched TV everyday, from local and national news to sitcoms and religious programs. Everyone who knew him knew that he was an avid fan of wrestling. Although he was never trained as a mathematician, one would think he had a master's degree in mathematics. He was so precise with numbers, dates and times. He also had a remarkable memory.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his caring and devoted wife, Mary; two brothers; one sister; four sons; one daughter; twenty-two grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several godchildren, a host of brothers in-law and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
