George Lawler Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 27, 2026.
George Dean Lawler of Edwards, Missouri passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 24, 2026, at the age of 81.

George was born on March 1,1945 to Burgess and Geraldine Lawler in Twin Falls, Idaho. He grew up in the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area where his family farmed and owned a store. George graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1962.

George married Patsy "Patty" Jo Washburn of Manes, Missouri, on December 14,1963 in Yakima, Washington. They moved to the Kansas City area in 1964. They raised their family and lived in Independence, Missouri until 2005, when they retired and moved to Lake of the Ozarks, Edwards, Missouri. George worked in his family store, on the farm, in the orchards of Yakima, and at Purina. He spent most of his career as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Bayer Corporation. He was employed 32 years with Bayer.

One of George's biggest passions was bass and crappie fishing spending many years participating in tournaments with his fishing buddies! He won multiple tournaments that included a bass boat as the grand prize! In his younger years he would go quail and pheasant hunting with his trained bird dogs. He was a skilled bowler, and he participated in a men's league and in the church league with Patty. He and Patty enjoyed camping and loved traveling to Estes Park, Colorado, National Parks in the West, and to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. One of George's favorite trips was their trip to Alaska. George pitched horseshoes and participated in tournaments during his time at Paradise South in the Rio Grande Valley. George loved visiting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren while in Texas. George had many pets over the years and April and Gracie were his most faithful companions.

George accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and loved his church. He was a big fan of listening to Alan Jackson sing his favorite hymns. He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a great friend to many.

George is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patty; his parents and grandparents; brothers, Sherman Lawler and Bill Lawler; sisters, Venita Claxton, Ima Cope, and Joan Lemons; and his son Kevin Lynn.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Williamson and husband Barry Williamson of Marble Falls, Texas; his son, Randy Lawler of Edwards, Missouri; his brother, Farris Lawler of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; his sister, Karen Burney, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; his granddaughter, Kristen Smedley and husband Blake, their children, George's great-grandchildren, Grant and Paige of Cedar Park, Texas; his grandson, Austin Williamson and wife, Sarah, of Georgetown, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
