George Wayne Ledbetter of Ingleside, TX, beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle passed away in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Born in Beeville, TX on October 19, 1958 to parents, Wiley “Snuffy” Ledbetter and Lois Ledbetter of Skidmore, TX, George was a Registered Pediatric Nurse for over 30 years, most of which were as a Home Health Provider for children with a variety of special medical needs. As a special care nurse, George felt called by the Lord to help children in need and served with utmost unselfishness and compassion.
George had a variety of favorite activities including gardening and fishing and was a faithful and active member of Coastal Oaks Church in Rockport, TX. Above all, however, George's favorite pastime was woodworking, a passion that transcended mere hobby and became a lifelong love affair with craftsmanship. George found solace and joy in the dance between hand tools and wood, a dance that resulted in many creations that still adorn the walls and homes of many throughout his life. Friends and family were often the fortunate recipients of his creations, each item bearing the mark of George's craftsmanship.
George is survived by his wife, Tina Cochran Ledbetter of Ingleside, TX, whom he married on June 6, 2015 and her family, George’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Joyce Cochran of Rockport, TX, and his brother-in-law, Matthew Cochran of Corpus Christi, TX.
He is also survived by the mother of his children, Deborah “Debbie” McCune of Andover, KS, and sons, Josh Schrantz of Wichita, KS, and Trevor Ledbetter of Tucson, AZ, and daughter Abbi Ledbetter of Andover, KS. George is also survived by his older brother, Walt Ledbetter of San Antonio, TX along with numerous nephews and nieces.
George is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Nicole Ashley Ledbetter, his parents Wiley and Lois Ledbetter, and brothers Paul Ledbetter and Frederick “Ricky” Ledbetter.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, TX, on Friday, February 23, 2024 with public viewing at 10 am, with service to follow at 11 am.
